Alice Bevenour served as the Executive Director of the Regis-LaSalle Foundation where she spearheaded all fundraising campaigns among the supporting parishes, business and alumni community from 1984 until her retirement in 1992.During her eight-year tenure with the Foundation, Alice activated the Regis-LaSalle Alumni Association and started the Heritage Society in 1991. As a founding member of the society, Alice designated the Xavier Foundation to receive a deferred gift at the time of her death in 2002. In addition, the Xavier Foundation was named as a recipient of contributions given in Alice’s memory. Graduating with academic honors from Marycrest College in 1952, Alice was a substitute teacher for 14 years in the metro area schools, additionally she was a founding member of the first professional organization for substitute teachers in the Cedar Rapids area, earning her the designation of certified fundraising executive in 1991. Alice was a warm and caring wife, mother and friend. Her family includes her husband, Robert, three sons and two daughters, Bob R’71, Kathy R’73, Lynn R’74, David and Matt R’81 and nine grandchildren. Alice and Robert had recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on a river boat cruise with family and friends. Proud of her Irish heritage, Alice was passionate about her commitment to Catholic education and an active member at St. Matthew’s Parish where she also served as a Befriender. In recognition of her many contributions to the work and mission of the Catholic High School Foundation, Alice was inducted into the Regis-LaSalle-Xavier Hall of Fame in 2000.
