Matthew Brandes graduated in 1971 from Regis. While at Regis, he participated in band, football, basketball, golf, choir, drama, alongside being a Student Senate President. Matt earned a BA degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1975 and his JD degree from William Mitchell College of Law in 1981. Matt has been with the law firm of Simmons, Perrine, Albright & Ellwood since 1985. He later became a partner in 1990. Matt and his wife, Jeanne (R71) have three daughters: Katherine (R95), Martha (R98) and Laura (X00). Matt was a member of the All Saints Parish Board of Education from 1989-1996, serving as President in 1991 and 1992. He additionally served as a member of the Regis High School Board of Education 1989-1994, before serving as President from 1991-1994. Matt was a member of the Archdiocesan Board of Education from 1991-1997. He served as President of the joint Regis-LaSalle Board of Education 1994-1997. Matt has been honored with the Cedar Rapids Rotary Club Appreciation Award for Community Involvement and Service.
