Mary Wenke Quass is a 1968 graduate of LaSalle. She was very active in an assortment of school activities including: Student Council, Glee Club, National Honor Society, Pep Club, Junior Achievement, Yearbook and debate. As a junior she was the recipient of the Gabriel Richard Leadership Award. She attended the University of Northern lowa where she obtained a BA degree and has completed courses for post-graduate work at the University of lowa. Currently she is President/CEO/Owner of Quass Broadcasting Company, more commonly recognized as KHAK Radio. She was named as one of 25 "up and coming" people in the state of lowa by the Des Moines Register in 1990 and also received the 1990 Country Music Association's "General Manager of the Year" award. She is past president of the lowa Broadcaster's Association, president of the lowa Freedom of Information Council and legislative liason for the National Association of Broadcasters. Outside of broadcasting, she is the vice-chair of the Executive Council of the Area Chamber of Commerce, and a board member of the Downtown Rotary Club, Cedar Rapids Visitors and Convention Bureau, Kirkwood College Foundation and the Regis/LaSalle Foundation. She is also a past member of the Kirkwood College Board of Trustees and Finance Chair of St. Matthew's Church. Mary is married to Jon Quass, a 1965 LaSalle Graduate.
