Grady Waldron is a 1997 graduate of LaSalle High School, where he excelled in athletics. Starting at a young age, Grady had a strong desire, competitive will, and passion for sports. He played on several AAU teams, and participated in the CABA World Series. During his time as a Lancer, Grady earned numerous accolades for his athletic performance. Grady was named captain and lettered in varsity football, basketball, track, and baseball.In football, Grady was named 1st Team All-State as a wide receiver and 2nd Team All-State on defense as a safety. Grady set the LaSalle record for most receiving touchdowns in a single season and led the Lancers to a perfect 9-0 regular season and a district championship in 1996 under head coach, Duane Schulte. Additional football honors include, 1st Team All-Metro in 1995 & 1996, 2nd Team All-District – 1995, 1st Team All-District -1996, and District All-Academic. Grady also received honors in baseball and track.In baseball, Grady was named 1st Team All-Metro in 1996 and 1997; 1st Team All-WAMAC, and 2nd Team All-District, he was also named LaSalle’s Most Valuable Player in 1997. In track, Grady was named 1st Team All-Metro in 1996 and 1997. He placed 3rd at the 1997 State Track Meet with his Sprint Medley Relay Team, running the 400 Meter leg of the relay; and qualified for State and the Drake Relays as part of the 4×100, 4×200, and 4×400 relay teams.Grady went on to play semi-pro football and played for Iowa’s first semi-pro team, the Iowa Tractors, for three years and was named the team’s Most Valuable Player on defense in 1999.Grady’s parents, Dennis Waldron and Jean Waldron, strongly believed in the Catholic faith and in Catholic education. Grady is one of four children, which include his siblings, Dacey (L92), Mandy (L93), and Dusty (X99) who all have graduated from the Xavier Community. Following high school, Grady attended the University of Iowa. While completing his degree, he assisted with coaching sophomore and varsity football and track for four years at Xavier High School. Following college, where he received his Economics degree and minor in Social Work, he decided to pursue opportunities in Arizona where he resided for 10 years before relocating back to Cedar Rapids.Grady has been in the IT training industry for 13 years and went on to become a Regional Government Sales Manager for New Horizons Computer Learning Center. He is married to his wife, Brooke (Smith) Waldron (X00) of five years, and together they have two children: Kona and Graydon.
